To start, guess who has been out on their mission for a full year? ME. Exciting and frightening at the same time.
Monday we had a good p-day looking for winter boots for my companion. This is always such a long process. Tuesday we spent a little extra time cleaning our apartment because a member of the Seventy, Elder Christoffel Golden, was coming to our mission and told us he would be inspecting apartments. No one ended up getting checked, but our apartments looked great at least.
The next day was our Zone Conference with him and his wife. It was definitely a unique experience to spend about 7 hours with a General Authority. I thought we would spend the majority of the time talking about missionary work, as in Finding skills, Teaching points, etc., but we ended up spending most of the time in the scriptures studying the Plan of Salvation. The Spirit was very strong.
Thursday we served in the food bank and Friday we had some good lessons, one with Emilie and one of her friends that she invited to meet with us. We also taught another investigator who is really beginning to open up to us. Because she is barely 17 (and not almost 18, as we thought), we will have the sisters in her corresponding family ward teach her.
Saturday we met with a less-active member and the Senior missionaries in our ward for lunch. We love our Senior missionaries so much!! Also they have a car and they kindly drive us places.
Sunday was stake conference. I used to think the way returned missionaries would talk about their mission presidents was a little weird, but now I totally understand. I feel so proud when I hear President Patrick and Sister Patrick speak.
I love you all!
